Plaza Elíptica lies on the avenida de Oporto, Opañel station on the calle de Portalegre, and Urgel and Marqués de Vadillo on General Ricardos, while Oporto station stands where the two streets meet. Many bus lines pass along Portalegre, among them the 47, 247, 81, and 55.
The 118 between Carabanchel Alto and Embajadores runs along General Ricardos, the main street of the whole district.

Shops line Opañel's main streets. The last stretch of the Camino Viejo de Leganés, from Urgel to Pan Bendito, is the barrio's main shopping street and one of its liveliest. On the avenida de Oporto, which runs from the Plaza Elíptica to General Ricardos, stands a Carabanchel cultural centre.
