Palacio is served by the metro at Ópera, Santo Domingo, Callao, Plaza de España, Príncipe Pío, La Latina and Puerta de Toledo, and Príncipe Pío, on the Glorieta de San Vicente, is also its one Cercanías station. The barrio takes in the area known as La Latina, which many count as a barrio of its own. On the Gran Vía it keeps the old Los Sótanos shopping arcade.

About Palacio
What are the main landmarks in Palacio?
Palacio's centrepiece is the Palacio Real, the largest royal palace in Western Europe. The barrio also holds the Teatro Real, the museum of the Convento de la Encarnación and the palaces of the Conde de Altamira and the Marqués de Grimaldi. The Compañía Asturiana de Minas building stands at the lower edge of the Plaza de España.
It counts as a classic of Madrid architecture. Green spaces include the Vistillas gardens and the parks of Atenas and Emir Mohamed I.
What is the history of Palacio?
Palacio holds the old Morería, the Moorish quarter, and the cavas, along with the Plaza de la Villa and part of the Madrid de los Austrias. The convent of the Reparadoras was once the seat of the Holy Office. Long-established venues stand here too.
The Coliseum and the Lope de Vega are on the Gran Vía, the Teatro Arlequín on San Bernardo and the Real Cinema on the Plaza de Isabel II.
