Base yourself in Palomas if you want a hotel room you can drive up to. The Hotel Osuna, its one hotel of note, sets two rows of two-storey bungalows facing a pool and a tree-lined garden, and each room can be reached by car from the back. The barrio has no metro stop, but Canillejas on line 5 and Feria de Madrid on line 8 are close.

What are the main landmarks in Palomas?
The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de las Américas on the calle de Peonías, a massive red church built in the 1990s, has a star formed by its concrete roof beams. The Monasterio de la Natividad del Señor keeps the Pantocrator de Canillejas. A Greek icon painter made it in 1985.
The blue Piovera Azul office building above the A-2 houses AENA, and two brick sentry boxes still stand at the start of the Paseo de la Alameda de Osuna.
What is the history of Palomas?
Palomas was once market gardens in the municipality of Canillejas, on ground so rich in streams and aquifers that its water fed a channel to Madrid. The first houses went up in the 1930s as a colonia of country homes with small gardens. Madrid annexed Canillejas in 1949.
In 1968 Vallehermoso began its Piovera flats, hoping to house personnel from the Torrejón air base; it missed the contract, but some American families moved in.

Palomas is bounded by the Avenida de los Andes and Piovera to the north, the M-40 and the railway to the east, and the A-2, with Canillejas beyond it, to the south.
