Seafood is what the barrio is for. Bars and restaurants here work mainly with what comes out of the water, with grilled meat places and cheap set-menu spots among them, and that is the reason to walk down rather than any monument. Six neighbours ring it.
Son Malherido, El Molinar, Son Riera, Can Pastilla, the airport and Son Ferriol border the barrio, which puts it between the city and the runway. Palma proper is six kilometres west.

The church came from one man's proposal. Reverend Bartolomé Castell suggested building one in 1885 because the neighbourhood had no temple at all, and the first part of it appears to have been blessed on 8 September of the same year. Three schools serve the barrio.
They are among the institutions the record lists alongside the parish. The eating places are the rest. Seafood restaurants dominate, with grilled meat and cheap set menus beside them, which is what a coastal working barrio produces.
What is the history of Coll d'en Rabassa?
The barrio began when the walls came down. Es Coll de Rabassa arose from the moment the Palma walls were demolished and the city's expansion began, and the first and humblest houses of the present barrio date from then. Coastal leisure housing led the way.
A new kind of holiday dwelling appeared along these shores from the 19th century, and the modest houses that became the barrio grew up among them. A priest asked for a church in 1885. Reverend Bartolomé Castell proposed one because there was no temple in the neighbourhood, and the first part of the building appears to have been blessed on 8 September that year.
The airport arrived later. It is one of the six neighbours that now bound the barrio, along with Son Malherido, El Molinar, Son Riera, Can Pastilla and Son Ferriol.
