The Autopista de Poniente runs along the southern edge of Son Roca and the fields begin at the northern one. Taxis and line 8 of the EMT are the way in. Son Ximelis is the centre of the barrio.

What are the main landmarks in Son Roca?
Son Ximelis holds the barrio's public buildings: a sports hall with changing rooms, petanca courts, a football pitch, an Olympic pool, a cultural centre, a nursery, a library and an open-air multi-sport court. The Sant Roc parish association meets here, and els Xeremiers de Son Roca keep the traditional music. A children's centre has rooms of its own.
What is the history of Son Roca?
Son Roca grew the way most of the rural edge of a Mallorcan city did, from farmland into an urbanización. The barrio sits below Puigpunyent but separate from the mountain, with the Autopista de Poniente cutting it off to the south. Its associations carry the community: a neighbours' association, one for the elderly, football and petanca clubs, the traditional musicians and the parish of Sant Roc.
