Ristinummi, Vaasa — Area Guide & Where to Stay

Sights are few here. Ristinummi is a residential quarter, and what it offers is its place within Vaasa and a short run into the centre by the Gulf of Bothnia, where the city's main sights and the old town of Vanha Vaasa lie. The Huutoniemi district adjoins it to the south.

Ristinummi grew as Vaasa pushed east. The coastal city of Vaasa expanded away from its centre by the Gulf of Bothnia and laid out housing across this eastern ground over the decades, turning open heath into streets and homes. It filled in steadily.

The result is one of the outer quarters of Vaasa, alongside neighbours such as Huutoniemi.

Ristinummi sits on the eastern side. It spreads across the eastern part of Vaasa, inland from the Gulf of Bothnia coast that the city fronts, in western Finland (Ostrobothnia). The Huutoniemi district lies to the south, and Vanha Vaasa, the old town, sits over toward the south-east.
