About Jouppi

What are the main landmarks in Jouppi?

Jouppi is a place to live, not to sightsee. Its streets sit out on the western plain, so the named sights are gathered in central Seinäjoki to the south-east. The white tower of the Lakeuden risti rises over the centre, the Etelä-Pohjanmaan museo holds the regional collection, and the Seinäjoen taidehalli shows art nearby.

From Jouppi all three are an easy run across town.

What is the history of Jouppi?

This was plain and farmland first. As Seinäjoki rose from a railway settlement into the seat of South Ostrobothnia, its housing pushed outward across the flats, and Jouppi grew up among the north-western districts that filled the land beyond the centre. The fields gave way to streets.

Jouppi settled into the residential ring that properly belongs to the city of Seinäjoki.

Where is Jouppi?

Jouppi occupies the north-western corner of Seinäjoki. It stretches across the flat Ostrobothnian plain of western Finland, away from the city core, sharing this side of town with the Kasperi district and reaching toward the open farmland that edges the built-up part of Seinäjoki.
