Henttaa, Espoo — Area Guide & Where to Stay

Henttaa has no landmarks of its own. It is a young inland district of eastern Espoo, built up with housing and open ground rather than churches, halls, or monuments. Its reference points are the neighbours that ring it: Mankkaa across the northern boundary, Olari and Niittykumpu to the east, and Matinkylä down the slope toward the coast.

The interest here is the planning itself. New blocks and meadow margins meet along the edges of Henttaa, part of the steady spread of Espoo across its inland hills toward Leppävaara.

Henttaa stayed open ground for a long time. While Tapiola and Matinkylä filled with planned housing in the post-war decades, this inland corner of eastern Espoo kept its fields and woods between the older centres. Building reached it late.

Through the early twenty-first century the district drew new blocks and a planned residential quarter, knitting Henttaa into the belt of suburbs that runs from Olari and Mankkaa across the hills of Espoo toward the city's eastern edge.

Henttaa lies in eastern Espoo in southern Finland, on inland slopes with Mankkaa to the north, Olari to the east, and Matinkylä falling toward the coast in the south.
