Where to stay in Olari
The right area depends on your trip. Here's who each one suits — pick the place, then the hotel.
Olari gives a quiet residential base in south-eastern Espoo, set just inland of the coast. The location is the appeal. Beds here put you within a short hop of the Matinkylä metro and shopping centre, with Olarin kirkko nearby and the line running on to central Helsinki, while Niittykumpu sits close on the other side.
You want a calm suburban stay over a busy centre.
About Olari
What are the main landmarks in Olari?
Churches give Olari its landmarks. The parish church, Olarin kirkko, stands at the centre of the south-eastern Espoo district. Two free congregations meet here as well, the Espoon helluntaiseurakunta and the Espoon vapaaseurakunta, marking Olari as a suburb of worship houses rather than tourist sights.
The everyday life of the estates, close to the shops of neighbouring Matinkylä, is the real character of the place.
What is the history of Olari?
Olari rose as Espoo built outward south-east from older farmland into planned housing estates. The blocks came in waves. Several congregations settled into the growing district: the parish raised Olarin kirkko, while the Espoon helluntaiseurakunta and the Espoon vapaaseurakunta both gathered their communities here.
Olari took its place as a dense residential quarter just inland of Matinkylä on the south-eastern side of the city.
Where is Olari?
Olari sits inland in south-eastern Espoo, just behind the coastal district of Matinkylä, with Niittykumpu on its other flank. It is built-up suburban ground.
