Rothéneuf sets its beds five kilometres up the coast from the walled town, around Place du Canada and along the shore at the Plage du Val. The D201 is the road in. Rooms here answer to a village centre and a tidal havre rather than to the ramparts, and the sand at the Plage du Nicet and the Plage de la Varde is a walk rather than a drive.
You would take it for the rochers sculptés, the manoir de Limoëlou, and a shore that is not the ferry port.

What are the main landmarks in Rothéneuf?
Rothéneuf keeps its landmarks within a few streets of the église Saint-Michel on Place du Canada, a granite church raised in 1869 to plans by the architect Eugène Hawke. Limoëlou holds the high ground. The manoir de Limoëlou was Jacques Cartier's house from 1541 until his death, and it has served as the Musée Jacques Cartier since 1984.
The rochers sculptés sit on the headland at 16 Chemin des Rochers Sculptés, where the abbé Fouré cut more than 300 figures into the granite between 1894 and 1907.
What is the history of Rothéneuf?
Rothéneuf was a village of fishermen and ploughmen under the bailliage of Paramé, and a description of 1757 counted 210 houses there. An imperial decree of 1866 raised the village to a parish of its own, and the église Saint-Michel was built three years later. A steam tramway reached it from Paramé in 1896.
The abbé Fouré died here in 1910. Rothéneuf came to Saint-Malo only in 1967, with the merger that took in Paramé and Saint-Servan-sur-Mer as well.
Where is Rothéneuf?
Rothéneuf takes the coast northeast of Paramé and ends at the pointe de Rothéneuf, above the tidal havre it shares with the commune of Saint-Coulomb.
