The name is a pairing. Doulon - Bottière joins two older place names under one of the eleven quarters Nantes uses to divide itself, and the micro-quartiers inside it carry names that predate that grouping, among them Vieux-Doulon, La Pilotière and Toutes-Aides. Vieux-Doulon says as much in itself.
