The old commune's streets climb away from the Loire toward Sainte-Anne, so a room can face the water or sit well back among the housing that filled Chantenay after the annexation, and the two make quite different stays. Sainte-Anne sits nearest the centre. Small hotels and guesthouses stand among ordinary housing rather than along a hotel row.
It suits travellers who would rather walk out into a working quarter than step straight into the Nantes centre, which is a short ride east. Bellevue lies further west again.

What is the history of Chantenay-sur-Loire?
Chantenay-sur-Loire was a commune in its own right, part of Loire-Inférieure, holding the right bank west of Nantes. That ended in 1908. Nantes annexed it that year together with Doulon, and the two former communes were folded into the growing city as quarters rather than places with their own councils.
The old boundary survives only in the way the name is used. Bellevue, Sainte-Anne and the Dervallières each hold a share of it.
Where is Chantenay-sur-Loire?
Ground rises off the right bank of the Loire here, west of central Nantes, and the old commune's edge runs inland toward the Dervallières.
