The Gare quarter puts you next to the gare de Nantes and the canal Saint-Félix, which suits anyone arriving by train and content to walk to the Château des ducs de Bretagne for sightseeing. Across the water, the Tripode quarter trades that for the île de Nantes and its river frontage.
Malakoff is quieter. No part of this is an old-town stay.

Euronantes is a working quarter rather than a monument district, and its set pieces are borrowed from the streets around it. Stade Marcel Saupin sits on the Loire quay at the Malakoff edge, and Tour LU rises beside the canal Saint-Félix. The Château des ducs de Bretagne is a walk from the gare de Nantes.
On the île de Nantes, the Palais des Sports de Beaulieu shares the island with the Carrousel des mondes marins turning at its western tip. Musée Dobrée belongs to older Nantes.

The scheme was drawn to give Nantes a business district of European scale, along with housing, shops and upper-end hotels, rather than a single tower block. The Gare part took the ground around the canal Saint-Félix, beside the gare de Nantes and the older quartier de Malakoff.
Its Tripode part went across to the île de Nantes. The Loire runs between them.
