Churches carry most of the local register. The Ascension, Lavender Hill and St Mark's, Battersea Rise stand on the ground rising away from the park, and the Church of St Philip, Park Town Estate and the Church of St Barnabas complete that set. Battersea Park Children's Zoo sits beyond the northern boundary.

What is the history of Latchmere?
Battersea grew around the ground well before the London Borough of Wandsworth took its present shape, and the streets that box it in, Burns Road to the south and Reform Street to the east and north, still hold that line. The school came later. Its site was converted to housing in 1996, which fixed the eastern edge of Latchmere Recreation Ground for good.
Battersea Park, far larger, opens immediately north of it.
