Around the Kowloon Bay Sports Centre the blocks run to converted factories, shopping podiums and business hotels, which suits you if the reason for the trip is work in eastern Kowloon rather than sightseeing. Ngau Tau Kok Road leads into markets and public housing estates, cheaper and plainer.
Lei Yue Mun meets the water. Its lanes look across the harbour channel to Hong Kong Island, and the seafood restaurants there stay busy long after the office towers have emptied.

Kwun Tong District's story is administrative as much as anything else. Hong Kong is divided into 18 districts, and this is the Kowloon one reaching furthest east and furthest south, bounded by Sai Kung District to the east, Wong Tai Sin District to the north and Kowloon City District to the west. Numbers followed the lines.
Only Sha Tin District holds more people among Hong Kong's districts, and the estates that made such density possible are packed onto barely eleven square kilometres of Kowloon ground beside Victoria Harbour.
Where is Kwun Tong District?
The district occupies the eastern and southern edge of Kowloon, running down to Victoria Harbour. Water separates it from the Eastern District on Hong Kong Island opposite. Inland the boundary meets Wong Tai Sin District to the north and Kowloon City District to the west, while Sai Kung District takes over east of it.
