Two rivers hold the district between them. The Muromi runs down the western side and the Kanakuzu the eastern, and both banks are treated in the city plan as green walking axes. Six bridges cross to the neighbours.
Shiomi, Nishinosho, Tokuma, Ouka and Ohara reach the Hara estate across the Kanakuzu, and the Muromigawa Chikuhi bridge and the Muromi Shinbashi cross to Atago. Muromi station is the closest.

What are the main landmarks in Minamishō?
No listed monument stands in Minamisho. The district is housing on flat ground between two rivers, and what the record gives it instead is the two river corridors. Both banks are treated as green axes.
The city plan sets the Muromi and the Kanakuzu aside as walking and resting ground, with continuous green and open views. A building agreement covers part of the fourth chome. It adds limits on height and on minimum floor area beyond the ordinary zoning, in order to hold the quality of the housing.
What is the history of Minamishō?
The name comes from salt. Minamisho was part of Sho in what is now Nishi ward, and Sho is said to be named for the burning of salt on this ground. Housing filled the rest.
The district is used mainly for housing, with supermarkets and small shops among it, and the western side along the Muromi carries the large estates. Planning splits it in two. The west counts as a medium and high-rise zone because of those estates, and the east along the Kanakuzu is a low and medium-rise zone of detached houses.
Seventy-two hectares make up the whole. The six chome run from the Muromi across to the Kanakuzu, with the Torikai to Meinohama line as the main road.

Minamisho covers about seventy-two hectares in the north of Sawara ward in Fukuoka between the Muromi and Kanakuzu rivers, bordering Muromi to the north-east, the Hara estate across the Kanakuzu to the south-east, Otabe to the south-west and Atago across the Muromi to the north-west.
