What is the history of Yayoi?
Some of the earliest Yayoi period settlers arrived in the Fukuoka area. Humans had occupied the same ground since the Jomon period, and the city later rose to prominence during the Yamato period while its trade with the Asian mainland continued. The quarter's name is another matter.
The quarter itself, whatever the reason for its name, is a residential district of 9.5 hectares in northern Sawara Ward.
