Badaro sits within reach of some of Beirut's best-known sights. The National Museum of Beirut stands at the district's edge, and just west the Beirut Hippodrome keeps its old racing oval alive within the city fabric. Green fills the rest.
Horsh Beirut, a pine forest of roughly 75 acres, runs along the south-eastern edge and gives the neighbourhood its administrative name of Horsh, while the Pine Residence, home of the French ambassador, closes off the parkland the district is built around.

Badaro grew as a residential quarter on the parkland edge of Beirut. It took shape around the green. The neighbourhood became the common name for Beirut's Horsh administrative district, the sector that gathers the pine forest of Horsh Beirut, the Beirut Hippodrome and the Pine Residence into one belt of open ground on the city's inner rim.
Building filled the streets between. The National Museum of Beirut anchored the district's northern flank as the surrounding blocks turned from open land into the residential and business grid the area keeps.
