Beit Hanina took its shape from the Ramallah road, the route between central Jerusalem and Ramallah that runs the length of the neighbourhood and ties it to the Arab Palestinian side of East Jerusalem. Nabi Samwil and Beit Iksa mark the western limit. Shuafat, Ramot and Ramat Shlomo hold the southern boundary, Hizma and Pisgat Ze'ev the eastern.
