What are the main landmarks in Hong Kah?
The boundaries do the work here. The Jurong Canal draws the water edge of the subzone and the PIE carries traffic past it at speed, so the two most legible features on the ground are a drainage channel and an expressway rather than any monument. Corporation Road runs a third side.
Boon Lay Way closes the fourth, and the subzone's name is inherited from Hong Kah Village, the former settlement whose title outlived the place itself on every map of Jurong West.
What is the history of Hong Kah?
A village lent the name. Hong Kah Village stood here first, and the subzone that replaced it carries the name forward even though the settlement itself has gone from the ground between the PIE and Boon Lay Way. Jurong West absorbed the parcel.
Corporation Road and the Jurong Canal fixed the remaining limits, leaving a parcel that is easier to trace along its four bounding lines than to locate by any single street corner.
