Two ends pull at Tanglin: Orchard on one flank, the Singapore Botanic Gardens on the other. The gardens side runs quieter. Rooms nearer Newton, Orchard and River Valley put the shops and the Singapore River within an easy walk, while beds towards Tyersall Park and the gardens trade that for greenery and a slower street.
Queenstown and Bukit Merah lie further out. Saint George's Church and the Museum of Ice Cream both fall inside the planning area, so a day here rarely needs transport to fill it.

Tanglin's founding year is simply a blank.
