Rooms are sparse out here. Glince keeps the low, spread-out shape of the village it once was, and most travellers base themselves nearer central Ljubljana before working out toward the Vič District along the Gradaščica. Stay for the quiet water and the walking.
The lanes off Šumarjeva ulica and Zavetiška ulica sit within reach of the Path of Remembrance and Comradeship, which loops the green edge of the city close to the Glinščica.

The green ring is the draw. The Path of Remembrance and Comradeship, the wooded walking circuit that marks the wartime occupation boundary of Ljubljana, brushes the edge of Glince along the Glinščica. West of here the ground climbs toward Bokalce Castle, the manor above the neighbouring hamlet of Bokalce that anchors the wider rural fringe of the Vič District.
Water and woodland do the work. There is no cluster of city monuments in the settlement itself.
What is the history of Glince?
Glince began as a farming village on the marshy plain west of the old town. It grew steadily through the early part of the century, gathering houses and small works along the Glinščica before the city reached out to meet it. Then Ljubljana absorbed it.
In 1935 Glince was annexed along with the whole former Municipality of Vič, and it slipped from an independent settlement into a quiet quarter on the south-western edge of the capital.

Glince spreads across the flat, once-marshy ground of the Vič District, at the south-western hem of Ljubljana where the Glinščica creek runs down to join the Gradaščica below the wooded rise of Rožnik.
