What are the main landmarks in Hrušica?
Hrušica keeps few grand monuments. Litijska cesta is the spine of the district, the old road that gathers its shops and carries the daily traffic down toward central Ljubljana. Graben Creek runs between the two halves, and above it Golovec rises in wooded slopes that Hrušica shares with the neighbouring settlement of Štepanja vas.
The Ljubljanica marks the low northern edge. Water, road, and hill define the place more than any single building.
What is the history of Hrušica?
Both halves of Hrušica grew as farming settlements below Golovec. A primary school opened in Spodnja Hrušica in 1884, a sign the place had become a settled community with children to teach and washerwomen working the banks of Graben Creek. The field boundaries came first.
Ljubljana annexed the two settlements in 1982, folding Zgornja and Spodnja Hrušica into the growing capital, though the old road on toward Bizovik still climbs the eastern edge.
