Noe Valley keeps its restaurants and boutiques on the streets between Church Street and the slope of Twin Peaks, and travellers who base themselves there can reach the Castro on foot in minutes. Almost nothing here rents by the night. Most visitors book beds over in the Castro or up toward Duboce Avenue and walk down into the quieter blocks of Noe Valley for a meal.

What are the main landmarks in Noe Valley?
Most Holy Redeemer Church marks the Castro edge of the neighbourhood. The GLBT Historical Society sits within the same short walk, and the Second Church of Christ, Scientist stands among the surrounding blocks of San Francisco. Beyond those three, Noe Valley is housing.
The John McMullen House stands among the residential streets, and 500 Capp Street and the Maison bleue round out the addresses here that carry names of their own.
What is the history of Noe Valley?
José de Jesús Noé gives the neighbourhood its name. Noé held it as ranch land. The Californio statesman and ranchero owned much of this ground in the nineteenth century and served as mayor, and the streets that later divided his holdings kept the name of Noe Valley.
Church Street and Dolores Street mark that older eastern boundary, while the Castro grew up alongside as the gay centre of San Francisco.
Where is Noe Valley?
Twin Peaks rises west of Noe Valley, with Dolores Street and Church Street along the east, Duboce Avenue to the north and San Jose Avenue to the south.
