Blocks belonging to the old colony grid, laid out after 1870, run low and residential, while the commercial strips carry the hotels that fill whenever the park calendar does, from school holidays to the opening of something like Avengers Campus. Comfort is not the divider.
Distance to the park gates is. Travellers drawn more to architecture than to rides should weigh the side of the city facing the Crystal Cathedral, since a stay there still keeps the run to Disneyland manageable. Families with young children think differently.
The Storybook Land Canal Boats, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and the Mad Tea Party all reward an early arrival, so the closer to the park gates the better, and the eastern arterials of Westminster shave the most off that first drive.

The city began as a colony. Lemuel Webber founded Westminster in 1870 as a Presbyterian temperance settlement, planted on open ground in western Orange County a long time before anything around it turned urban. Open ground came before the streets.
The colony's purpose shaped its plan, and the grid left behind still underlies the residential blocks holding the oldest addresses in the city. Incorporation waited until 1957. Almost nine decades separate the founding from the year Westminster became a city in its own right, and the county filled in around the colony grid through the whole of that interval, leaving the settlement enclosed by suburb.
The parks arrived in the same era. Disneyland turned this part of Orange County into a destination and Disney California Adventure later added to it, so the effect on Westminster was indirect but decisive, since a city with no attraction of its own acquired a steady reason for people to sleep in it. Attractions accumulated across the decades.
The Matterhorn Bobsleds, Autopia, and the Disneyland Railroad belong to the earlier waves, while Avengers Campus and Star Wars Launch Bay mark much later additions to the same complex.
