What is the history of Northeast?
Northeast was settled in 1848, one of the first footholds of Minneapolis on the east bank. Milling came first. Immigrant families followed the work and raised the churches that still define the quarter, among them St. Mary's Cathedral, built for an Orthodox congregation.
Later the fire brigades and trades left their own record, kept now in the Firefighters Hall and Museum among the old streets.
