The Hill is a residential Little Italy rather than a lodging district, so the usual arrangement is a room closer to Forest Park and a walk south into the neighbourhood for dinner. St. Ambrose Church sits near the middle of a grid that runs only from Hampton Avenue across to South Kingshighway Boulevard, which keeps the whole of it within a short walk.

St. Ambrose Church is the one landmark inside the boundary streets. Everything else on the list stands north across Manchester Avenue in Forest Park, where the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Saint Louis Zoo and the Saint Louis Science Center share one stretch of parkland. The Monsanto Insectarium sits within the zoo.
That leaves the neighbourhood itself a place to walk rather than to tour, with Southwest Avenue and Columbia Avenue closing it off to the south.
