The mix is limited. For a wider choice of rooms and quick transport, Bondi Junction and central Sydney sit a short bus or train ride away.

What are the main landmarks in Bondi Beach?
The beach itself is the main sight, a crescent of sand between two headlands where surfers gather at the southern break. At the south end, the Bondi Icebergs pool cuts into the rocks, filling with spray at high tide. From there the Bondi-to-Coogee coastal walk runs south along the clifftops toward Bronte and Coogee.
Campbell Parade frames it all. The promenade and the grassy park above the sand draw walkers, markets and open-air crowds through the warmer months.
What is the history of Bondi Beach?
The name Bondi comes from an Aboriginal word describing the sound of water tumbling over rocks. European settlement reached the area in the nineteenth century, and the sand was set aside as a public beach under Waverley Council. Surf lifesaving began here.
The Bondi Pavilion rose on the promenade in the 1920s, a grand hall of changing rooms and seaside entertainment. It grew from a working seaside suburb into one of the beaches most tied to Sydney's public image.
Where is Bondi Beach?
Bondi Beach lies about seven kilometres east of central Sydney, within the Eastern Suburbs and the Waverley Council area. The suburb wraps around a single bay whose sand curves between two rocky headlands, with the open Pacific to the east. North Bondi holds the northern end.
Bondi Junction, the rail and shopping hub, sits inland to the west, while Campbell Parade lines the beachfront.
