What is the history of Reduta?
Reduta grew as Sofia spread east from its old core toward the open ground of Borisova Gradina. Its name is older than its streets. The park was laid out to the district's south while the churches and galleries of the centre, among them the Saint Sophia Church and the Seven Saints Church, already served the growing capital, and the Monument to the Tsar Liberator honoured the war that freed the city.
The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral rose over that same centre.
