Two named sites carry the record. The Ford Performance Centre is the first, a training facility on the New Toronto side of the Toronto lakeshore, and St. Teresa Roman Catholic Church is the second, a parish that carries the neighbourhood's own name in its dedication. Both stand within the old town plat.

What is the history of New Toronto?
1890 is the founding year. A group of Toronto industrialists, back from a visit to Rochester, New York, laid out the Town of New Toronto as a planned industrial centre on ground then belonging to the Township of Etobicoke. Independence came in 1913.
It held until 1967, when the town was folded in with the other Lakeshore Municipalities to form the Borough of Etobicoke, and the name stayed on the neighbourhood after that borough went into Toronto.
Where is New Toronto?
New Toronto takes a strip of the Toronto lakeshore, fronting Lake Ontario with the older ground of Etobicoke lying inland behind it.
