What are the main landmarks in Jiading?
The Jiading Confucian Temple is the district's oldest monument, begun in 1219. Five rivers meet at Huilongtan close by, where the Song-era Binxing Bridge still carries walkers over the water toward the old county streets and their teahouses. Out in Nanxiang stand the classical Guyi Garden and the Fahua Pagoda.

What is the history of Jiading?
Jiading became a county seat in 1218, during the Jiading era of the Southern Song dynasty that gave it its name. Construction of the Jiading Confucian Temple followed a year later, in 1219. The town grew as a walled administrative centre on the canals north of the Huangpu plain, and its later folding into Shanghai turned a rural county into a suburban district.
The past still shows. Guyi Garden in Nanxiang dates to the Ming dynasty, re-modelled under the Qianlong emperor.
Where is Jiading?
Jiading lies in northwestern Shanghai, a low, canal-laced district of about 463 square kilometres reaching from the old town at Huilongtan out to Nanxiang and Anting. Five rivers converge at its historic core. Metro Line 11 threads the built-up spine, linking Malu and Anting toward the city.
