It sits across the river from the town. Leider lies on the left bank of the Main in the Bachgau, borders Stockstadt am Main to the west and the Darmstädter Straße and the Nilkheim Stadtteil to the south, and it belongs to the Regierungsbezirk Unterfranken in Bavaria. The old road runs to Aschaffenburg.
The Leiderer Stadtweg carries the name of the way into town, and a wayside shrine of the 15th century that once stood along it now stands at the entrance to the Leider cemetery. Aschaffenburg proper holds the beds.

About Leider
What are the main landmarks in Leider?
The church holds the oldest fabric. St. Lukaskirche keeps building parts from the start of the 14th century, when it went up as the St. Laurentius chapel and was a daughter church of the Aschaffenburg Muttergottes parish. The plague house came next.
The Siechenhaus of the 15th century was the town's medieval pest house, put across the Main at the edge of what was then the farming village of Leider because Aschaffenburg banished its leprous and plague-stricken there, and this Sondersiechenhaus im Leiderer Feld is first mentioned in 1471. Its chapel still stands. The protocol book of the Aschaffenburg Stift of St. Peter and Alexander lists a chapel belonging to the pest house under 4 June 1574, and it stands at the corner of the Leiderer Stadtweg and the Kapellenstraße.
What is the history of Leider?
The first mention is a feoffment. After an agreement at the monastery of Theres on 8 July 1151, bishop Eberhard II of Bamberg enfeoffed the brothers Popo, burgrave of Würzburg, and count Berthold von Henneburg with Leider, Niedernberg and Hausen at the imperial diet that opened in Würzburg on 15 September 1151, and the deed recording it was only issued after 15 February 1152. The place is older than that.
A bell beaker about four thousand years old and human skeletal remains came out of grave digging at the Waldfriedhof in 1970, a flanged axe survives from the Bronze Age, and a copper coin bearing Constantius Chlorus is the Roman find. Twenty-three burghers held it in 1766. The community of Leydern owed the elector's residence castle wine haulage day and night, each burgher keeping two draught animals and a cart for the purpose, and for that duty they were called Schloss-Junkern and were exempt from military service.
