About Bochold
What are the main landmarks in Bochold?
Four names, three of them churches. Haus Berge is the exception, an older building standing among the church dedications that otherwise make up the whole of Bochold's register: the St.-Fronleichnam-Kirche, the Kirche St. Maria Rosenkranz and the St.-Johannes-Bosco-Kirche. The churches carry the borough.
Borbeck-Mitte and Vogelheim next door have their own entries, so a walk that starts at Haus Berge can carry on into them without much ground between.
What is the history of Bochold?
Borbeck governed this ground first. Bochold belonged to the Bürgermeisterei Borbeck until 1915, when Essen drew the borough inside its own boundary and the mayoralty's authority over it ended. The churches came with it.
