What is the history of Vogelsang?
Vogelsang began in 1931 as a settlement for the unemployed, one of Heinrich Brüning's government schemes, where settlers were to live off small livestock and vegetables. Rented flats followed in 1936. St Conrad's Church, built in 1936/37, still forms the centre with the school and the inn.
Heavy bombing passed it by. The Emmaus-Kirche followed in 1955 and St Viktor's Church in 1966/67, and by the early 1970s nothing showed that Vogelsang had once been a settlement for the poor.
