Kiel keeps the rooms near the Förde. Hassee works as a base for anyone with a car, or anyone happy to use the station on the Kiel to Flensburg line that runs through it. A regional train calls hourly.
The stop is at the CITTI-PARK Kiel, and from there the middle of Kiel and its shopping streets are a short ride in. Hof Hammer and the Eider are the local walk.

What are the main landmarks in Hassee?
Hof Hammer is the oldest address in the Stadtteil. The Kiel town book names it between 1264 and 1289 as Hamere and the Kiel rent book of 1304 as villa Hamer, and the city let the farm in hereditary lease from 1769. Its manor house dates from 1884.
A thatched cottage went up on the Speckenbeker Weg in 1920 and stands under protection. Leberecht Migge planned the rest. The landscape architect was commissioned in 1920 to lay out the Waldsiedlung Hammer, and most of its houses were built between 1921 and 1927.
What is the history of Hassee?
Hassee begins in 1222, in a document that gives the name as Hertse. The name points to the Hirschsee, a lake that has since been drained. Five villages were grouped together in 1667.
Hassee joined Russee, Suchsdorf, Wik, Kronshagen and Ottendorf in one Bauernvogtdistrikt, and the commune of the day was made up of the three villages Hassee, Demühlen and Winterbek. A peace oak was planted in 1871. It went into the old village core at the Uhlenkrog, and a memorial stone on the Schmuckplatz by the station still carries the words Gemeinde Hassee 1909.
Kiel took it on 1 April 1910. Hassee came in with Gaarden-Süd, Hasseldieksdamm, Ellerbek and Wellingdorf, and the city grew by 368 hectares. Several streets were renamed to avoid confusion, so what had been the Dorfstraße became the Hasseer Straße.

Hassee is a district of Kiel. Its boundary runs along the Kuhfurtsau in the north, passes south and east of the Vorderer Russee and follows the A215 towards Hasseldieksdamm.
