Where to stay in Los Pajaros
Where the beds are, and what that means for the visit.
Los Pajaritos went up as municipal housing from 1959, with more than eight in ten of its flats measuring between 30 and 60 m², so the barrio carries almost no visitor stock and the argument for an address here is the metro rather than the room. Line 1 stops on the southern edge, where Federico Mayo Gayarre meets Ronda del Tamarguillo. 1º de Mayo opened in 2009. You would take a flat here for the aqueduct on calle Cigüeña, not for the centre.

About Los Pajaros
What are the main landmarks in Los Pajaros?
Calle Cigüeña holds five brick arches. They face number 10, and they are the piece of the Caños de Carmona still standing in this barrio, an aqueduct of Roman origin that al-Hayy Yacis rebuilt for the Almohads and inaugurated on 13 February 1172 to bring water 17 km from Alcalá de Guadaíra into the walled city. The arcade here is early nineteenth-century work, a survivor of a line the city tore down in stages from 1908.
La Candelaria, the estate filling the southern half, carries its own entry in Andalusia's inventory of immovable heritage.
What is the history of Los Pajaros?
The keys came in 1959. Around 1963 the city followed with a covered market, the Victoria Díez primary school, and the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Blanca Paloma, after which the Real Patronato de Casas Baratas raised several more blocks on the same ground. In 1970 the run facing avenida de Andalucía went up to a visibly better standard.
The arroyo Tamarguillo once separated this ground from Sevilla, and its channel was pushed outward in the 1960s so that Ronda del Tamarguillo could be laid over the old bed.
Where is Los Pajaros?
Bird names fill the streets, Estornino, Codorniz, and Gorrión, inside a barrio that Ronda del Tamarguillo closes off to the west.
