What are the main landmarks in Fu Tei?

Fu Tei has no listed monument. No separate site is recorded inside the area, so the landmarks that matter to a visitor sit a few kilometres off, on the water and along the market rows. Castle Peak is Tuen Mun's other name.

The Tuen Mun River runs down to Castle Peak Bay, where Tanka fishermen once gathered, and San Hui keeps the food market that draws the everyday crowd across Tuen Mun District.

What is the history of Fu Tei?

Tuen Mun District keeps the record, not Fu Tei. Fu Tei enters the account as one named area inside Tuen Mun District, without a charter year of its own, which is ordinary for the small settlements gathered under a New Territories district name. The district's own past runs much deeper.

Tuen Mun was one of the earliest settlements in what became Hong Kong, dated back to the Neolithic period, and Tuen Mun Kau Hui marks the old market ground whose stalls were cleared long ago.
