What are the main landmarks in Kai Tak Development?
Sports halls dominate the local landmark list. Mission Road Ground keeps playing fields on the old airport boundary, the sort of open green that a dense district rarely gets to keep. Kai Tak East Sports Centre serves the development itself.

What is the history of Kai Tak Development?
The district began as a plan for what to do with a closed airport. Kai Tak Airport had used this ground, and when flying moved elsewhere the closed site left Kowloon with a rare block of open land in the middle of a dense city. Planners first called it the South East Kowloon Development.
The name later shifted to Kai Tak Development, and the abbreviation KTD followed the scheme through its long build-out across the airport site. Kai Tak kept the name.

Flat, engineered ground defines Kai Tak: the district occupies the floor of the old airfield, with the older streets of Kowloon Bay immediately inland.
