The Osman Ramju Sadick Memorial Sports Centre and the Lai Chi Kok Park Sports Centre stand on made ground, the reclaimed floor of Lai Chi Kok Bay, where three rivers draining the Kau Wa Keng valley once converged on a beach. Cheung Sha Wan Sports Centre and Po On Road Sports Centre anchor the street grid inland.

What is the history of Kau Wa Keng?
The Lai Chi Kok Amusement Park stood on this ground and closed in 1997. Before it, Kau Wa Keng was a village in a valley whose three rivers ran down to a beach at the head of Lai Chi Kok Bay, and reclamation later pushed the shoreline out and erased that estuary. The village name survives in two other spellings, Kau Wah Keng and Kau Wa Kang.
New Kowloon grew around it.
