Where to stay in Yuen Long Town
Where the beds are, and what that means for the visit.
The choice inside the town is narrow. Most beds sit within the dense middle of Yuen Long Town, where Yuen Long Sports Centre stands among shops, market streets and the civic buildings that serve the whole of Yuen Long District. Quieter flanks sit just past that.
Long Ping Sports Centre and Fung Kam Street Sports Centre both mark residential ground one remove from the shopping run. Travellers wanting open pitches instead look toward Tin Shui Wai Sports Ground, on the newer, planned side of Yuen Long District.

About Yuen Long Town
What are the main landmarks in Yuen Long Town?
Sports halls carry public life here. Yuen Long Sports Centre, Long Ping Sports Centre and Fung Kam Street Sports Centre sit inside the older grid of Yuen Long Town, each holding courts, gymnasiums and evening classes for the blocks around them. Tin Shui Wai Sports Ground gives the district its running track and open pitches.
Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Sports Centre and the Tin Yip Road Artificial Sand Court serve the planned estates on that side.
What is the history of Yuen Long Town?
Growth here arrived in stages. Yuen Long Town has long held the district centre of Yuen Long District, and the planned town known as Yuen Long New Town was laid over and around that older core. Building later pushed out to Tin Shui Wai, and the estates there sit on ground laid out well after the old town had settled its shape.
Yuen Long Sports Centre and Tin Shui Wai Sports Ground mark those two phases within the New Territories.
Where is Yuen Long Town?
Yuen Long Town sits on flat ground at the centre of Yuen Long District, with the open country and low hills of the New Territories closing in around it.
