What is the history of Kimmage?
Kimmage takes its name from Kimmage Manor. The suburb grew on the south side of Dublin as the city reached outward past its older neighbours, Crumlin to the west and Rathfarnham to the south. Those older villages hold the area's longest-standing churches, Old St Mary's Church and the Rathfarnham Church of Ireland Parish Church.
Within Kimmage, the parish churches came later, among them Kimmage Manor Parish Church and the Church of the Holy Spirit. Much of that past survives in its churches.
