What is the history of Shakti Nagar?
Much of the area's past is written on the Northern Ridge to its east. When the 1857 uprising reached Delhi, the Ridge became a British position, and Flagstaff Tower served as a gathering point in the first hours of the revolt. The fighting was long.
The Mutiny Memorial was raised afterwards to those who fell in the campaign for the city. Down in Civil Lines, Ludlow Castle dates from the same colonial century, and the Ambedkar National Memorial later added the memory of Bhimrao Ambedkar.
