Mukund Nagar is residential ground rather than a hotel district, and what beds there are sit along Shankarrao Lahane Marg and in the lanes behind Sujay Garden, close to Ranka Hospital. Swargate sits minutes north. The state bus stand and the underground Purple Line terminus there send coaches to Satara and Kolhapur and metro trains north to Mahatma Phule Mandai.
Book this side if you want an early coach out and a quiet street to sleep on. Gultekdi and Market Yard lie east, wholesale ground rather than a hotel strip.

What are the main landmarks in Mukund Nagar?
Mukund Nagar holds none of the museum wadas that draw visitors to central Pune, and its landmarks stay in working use. Ranka Hospital stands at 157/5 on Shankarrao Lahane Marg, an orthopaedic centre that Dr. Ramesh Ranka opened in 2000 and that began its work with fifteen beds. The Sujay Garden Commercial Complex runs the shopfronts, from clothing counters to car-part dealers.
Jedhe Square marks the Swargate corner, where five roads meet. Parvati Hill rises west.
What is the history of Mukund Nagar?
Mukund Nagar takes its name from Mukund Lohiya, the man who owned the whole tract before a house stood on it. Panshet Dam, upstream of Pune on the Ambi, gave way in the small hours of 12 July 1961, and Khadakwasla broke four hours after it, sending the Mutha through the low-lying old city. Lohiya gave his land to the government.
Houses went up on it for families the water had put out of their own, and bungalow plots line the lanes beside them. The name records the gift.
