Secondigliano is residential ground in the north of Naples, not a hotel quarter. Beds are few. Along Corso Secondigliano and around Piazza Luigi Di Nocera the fabric is shops, parish churches and post-war estates, so most visitors take a room in central Naples and travel out for the day.
The sights sit elsewhere: the Museo di Capodimonte is about two and a half kilometres south, and Naples Cathedral and the Naples National Archaeological Museum stand nearly four kilometres away in the old centre. If your errand is in the northern quarters, or at the Capodichino airport under two kilometres east, a bed here saves that journey.

About Secondigliano
What are the main landmarks in Secondigliano?
The landmarks of Secondigliano are parish churches and one long street. Corso Secondigliano runs the length of the quarter, and Piazza Luigi Di Nocera holds Santi Cosma e Damiano, rebuilt in 1695. The Santuario dell'Addolorata followed in 1827.
Three later churches serve the newer streets: the chiesa di Cristo Re, the chiesa di Santa Maria della Natività and Santa Maria di Fatima. Palazzo Di Nocera of 1870 is the best house on the corso, and Parco San Gaetano Errico and Villa Alfiero hold the open ground. The Museo di Capodimonte is two and a half kilometres south and Naples Cathedral nearly four.

What is the history of Secondigliano?
Secondigliano began as a farming settlement on the plain north of Naples, and its name records the second milestone on the old road out of the city. The first houses gathered around the church of Santi Cosma e Damiano, on what is now Piazza Luigi Di Nocera, rebuilt in 1695. The nineteenth century remade it.
Mansion blocks went up along Corso Secondigliano, Palazzo Di Nocera among them in 1870, and the Santuario dell'Addolorata had been raised in 1827. Then came the housing. Rione Berlingieri and the estates built after the Second World War pushed the quarter toward Scampia, and most of its building stock dates from that expansion.
Where is Secondigliano?
Secondigliano covers a stretch of plain in northern Naples, with Scampia and Miano on its western side and San Carlo all'Arena and San Pietro a Patierno to the south.
