About Austad
What are the main landmarks in Austad?
The register passes Austad over: no church, no museum, no monument and no park is credited to the district, and the sights a visitor comes to Drammen for stand in other parts of the city. Strømsø and Bragernes lie nearest. Rundtom has its church; Austad has no equivalent.
The district shows a visitor streets and the names around it, Strømsø, Rundtom and Fjell, and no more than that.
What is the history of Austad?
Austad has no dated beginning in the sources. The name appears as one of Drammen's districts, without a charter, without an incorporation year, and without the sort of first mention that fixes a settlement to a century. The paperwork begins with Buskerud fylke.
Whatever came before the district line was drawn is not written down here.
Where is Austad?
