Olimpiyskaya fills through the beach weeks.
Anyone who came for the tea plantations and the waterfall cascade above the settlement does better in the quieter streets, away from the beach crowds.

The Plevako dacha and the house built for Uspensky, who managed the imperial farm, survive from the estate years, while the Semashko sanatorium complex, the Olimpiyskaya hotel and the Dubrava restaurant date from the resort building of the last century. A mass grave of 71 Soviet soldiers lies among them. Above the rest rises the lift tower of the Dagomys sanatorium, the marker most visitors use to find their way down to the beach.
What is the history of Dagomys?
A botanical garden was laid out here by order of Tsar Nicholas II, and Dagomys was developed as a resort before the Russian Revolution, when the imperial farm and the first dachas held the ground above the shore. The Semashko sanatorium and its neighbours filled the slope under Soviet rule. The hotel complex of 1982 turned the settlement into a mass beach resort, while the tea plantations in the surrounding hills became a second reason to come.
