Neither the Volkonsky dolmen nor the medieval temple ruins at Loo belong to Yakornaya Shchel, whose own inventory runs to a platform, a beach and the gorge road climbing behind them. What Yakornaya Shchel has is the timetable. Express trains that run past bigger settlements stop at the halt, which is why the waterpark at Loo, the tulip tree at Golovinka and the valley of 33 waterfalls in the gorge behind it are all reachable on an ordinary day out.

What is the history of Yakornaya Shchel?
Yakornaya Shchel dates from 1912. That is late for this coast: the Russian army had put up its forts between 1837 and 1839, one of them at Golovinka, and the dacha and sanatorium building that turned the shore into a resort came in the decades either side of the revolution. Sochi's district lines came later.
They were drawn in 1961, and Yakornaya Shchel has been counted with the Lazarevsky City District, inside Krasnodar Krai, ever since.
