Its four constructivist blocks, raised in 1936 to designs by Georgy Pavlovich Valenkov, carry federal cultural-heritage protection and hold the estate's ribbon of balconies and rounded stair towers along Prospekt Lenina. West along the same avenue stands the Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theatre, its stuccoed facade a foil to the estate's stripped concrete.

The estate went up in 1936. Yekaterinburg, then the industrial city of Sverdlovsk, was building constructivist housing at speed for the engineers and specialists staffing its Ural factories, and the Gospromural building estate was raised as one such workers' complex to designs by Georgy Pavlovich Valenkov. Its blocks fixed the constructivist grammar of ribbon glazing and flat concrete to Prospekt Lenina.
A 1974 decree later gave the ensemble federal cultural-heritage protection, and the name still marks these blocks on the avenue.
