What is the history of Rörsjöstaden?
Rörsjöstaden rose on drained marshland north-east of the old Malmö core. As the city laid out a regular street grid over the former wetland, churches such as Sankt Pauli kyrka and Caroli kyrka rose among the new blocks, and over the years the streets settled into a dense inner-city quarter rather than open lake-bed. It built up fast.
The north-eastern reach of Malmö became Rörsjöstaden, a kommun district close to Gamla Staden.

The grid holds the north-east. Rörsjöstaden occupies that inner corner of Malmö, hard against the old core of Gamla Staden to the west, with Södervärn reaching away toward the south-east and the castle quarter of Slottsstaden out on the central-western side toward the water.
