Skytteholm's central position gives it good links. The blue metro line's Akalla branch stops at Solna centrum, which also has a bus terminal served by many daytime routes. North of it, on the border with Råsunda, is the Tvärbanan stop Solna Centrum.
The district has two schools, Skytteholmsskolan and Nybodaskolan.

About Skytteholm
What are the main landmarks in Skytteholm?
Solna's city hall, Solna stadshus, stands in Skytteholm. West of Solna centrum rises Skytteholmsberget, known locally as Slaktarbacken. There, from 1902, stood the Stora Ahlbylund property, whose first tenant, the butcher Gustaf Danielsson, named it Skytteholm.
So much of the district dates from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s that very little of it is yet counted as being of high historic or artistic value.
What is the history of Skytteholm?
Until the early 1900s much of Skytteholm lay under a lake, Träsksjön, later called Rudsjön. Draining it in the first half of the century raised a huge stench. The ground also served as a rubbish tip.
The Finnish architect Alvar Aalto drew the first town plan with Albin Stark in 1948, and once Solna had bought the land from the Wibom family of Huvudsta gård, the district went up quickly in the 1950s and 1960s.
Where is Skytteholm?
Skytteholm lies centrally in Solna. It borders Råsunda to the north and north-west, Hagalund to the north-east and Huvudsta, with Sundbyberg Municipality to the west. Frösundaleden and Solnavägen enclose it on the north-west and north-east.
The district takes in Solna centrum, Hanneberg, Nyboda, and Solna Business Park, the former Vireberg industrial area.
